Ah Ha! In the spirit of compromise..............

Now...something a bit more on track......a comment about the actual topic..
a novel approach..........

Is this sort of speech a wise move?

The global problems generating from within the Muslim world today are so bad and so obviously self-inflicted that any honest speech on the matter would offend and enrage Muslims the world over..........While at the same time, because of these very problems, a softball speech about Islam's current role in global affairs would look like cowardly capitulation.

If Obama splits the difference and mixes lukewarm praise with lukewarm condemnation, the stunt will be seen rightly as meaningless.......and deemed a total failure.........

@Katray4
First of all I apologize to Corbin for taking up his space, but I would like to chuckle at the irony of "not wanting free speech" when it is your kind that is promoting the Fairness Doctrine. I've said this many times and I'll say it again, while I don't care who trashes McCain/Palin/the GOP/conservatives, etc here on Blogit because everyone DOES have a right to free speech and hence I don't hound anyone if they do, I don't have to put with insulting comments (cause that's all people on the left seem to do when you disagree with them) every time I find fault with Obama. So yeah, It's my house, my blog and I'll deal with it the way I see fit, take it or leave it.

Yet, the question still stands: why does Obama have to give a speech on foreign policy in a Muslim nation as one of the first things on his to-do list? WHY DID HE KEEP QUIET DURING THE MUMBAI ATTACKS? Enquiring minds want to know....

I'm taking issue with your misleading headline, Corbin: 'Obama To Make First Major Speech In A Muslim Capital??? Why???"
Again I ask, where in the article does it state his first major speech will be in a Muslim capital?
From your link:
WASHINGTON — "President-elect Barack Obama’s aides say he is considering making a major foreign policy speech from an Islamic capital during his first 100 days in office."

There is a difference in what you are presenting here as "news and politics" and the truth of the matter - By posting that his first major speech will be in an Islamic nation, directed to Muslims, along with the photograph that has been debated ad nauseam and found to be nothing but a smear tactic you are continuing, intentional or not, to feed into the patently false "He's a Muslim" fervor. No problem as far as I'm concerned if Islam is his religion, but the fact is it is not.

Lol, that's pretty funny, NewYorker, you Free Speech proponent you!
..who has me blocked from commenting, I guess because I might disagree with you. The weird thing is, I had never commented on your blogs, but the one time I felt the call to do so, I couldn't. Anyway, your link doesn't work, but it doesn't matter as Corbin's link does and I read the whole article, yep, the whole thing. Did you?

Re: WHAT?? Where in the article does it say his FIRST major speech?
Well coming from you.........a level shooting pragmatic non-partisan person who would never give a slant to anything you post......I guess I stand corrected!

I have never said I do not have an agenda.....I openly admit it.....YES!  I AM A PARTISAN CONSERVATIVE! So what is your point???

Of course his first major speech will be his Inaugural Address........that's a constitutionally required given..........Seeing as how it will be nothing but a parroting of the inane teleprompted points we have heard over and over again for2 years.......the speculated speech in Cairo might actually say something new........unfortunately just as inane....but at least new!

It will indeed be interesting to see who steps in what pile when the
revolving door of the white house slows to a halt...way to fuel the fire, Corbin...Good post!

WHAT?? Where in the article does it say his FIRST major speech?

This isn't a news and political blog, it's a twisting of facts to serve a propaganda agenda. And has Bush never given a speech in a Muslim country? - a diplomat the current President most definitely is not, but he has: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/01/20080113-1.html

Geez, your intentions are just too easy to see through Corbin..and it ain't a pretty picture, but freedom of speech still lives, Thank God, so do carry on, but don't expect people with thinking brains and eyes that can read between the lines to buy into the hype.

Why does this strike me as bizarre? And in answer to your question (you know which one about the silence, lol)...some of us have work to do, so it'll have to wait for the weekend...
