Your words
are so true!  I don't remember thinking this deeply right when my first child was born, but it was only a matter of time before so much came to the surface!  Although my children have been a lot of "work" over the years, they have taught me just as much (if not more) then I have taught them.
Thank you for your post.  I really like it.

I applaud you for thinking in advance. For me the best way to teach faith is to demonstrate in one's self! You will be a terrific parent! You have everything going in the right direction. I taught my children early on how to make decisions and they have done famously with their lives. sam

Motherhood is such a great responsibility and it is a great honor.  You sound like a great mother.  Your love and caring will go into his body make up and will carry him through many a trials.

Have an insouciant day!

I will say that you are doing what few mothers do! Persist and the answers will come!

I admire the honesty and courage....
....it took you to share these feelings.
It's true that children reconnect us to parts of ourselves that we left behind.
And your right in that it forces us to ask questions that we've forgotten to ask ourselves.
Part of the solution is the answers you come up with in anticipation of what your child is going to face as time goes by.
Ask yourself ahead of time, and the answers will be there when you need them.
I went through the same soul-searching when my children were young.
This post tells me that your son has a wonderful mother and that he'll be fine.
