femme, no shopping at all this year for me, sigh......but, it happens.
You might look into a Vonage account that works using your computer, but sits and works as a regular phone with the computer turned off.... not like Skype.
It has free long distance and voice mail to many countries and the US and has a little portable keychain phone thingie that lets you call when away from your house, using another person's computer.....USB port, I think....
I've used it for about two years now and I like it. You can take it to any new place that you move to, across town or across the country, Ipicked a Tucson number as I live here and rarely move more than 1000 yards down the road each time....
You pick a phone number and if all of your relatives are in Ireland, for example, you can pick an Irish number and that makes them calling you....a free call for them as it is listed as a local Irish call....weird, but cool.

Go indeed! Budgeting is hard in these times
Sounds like you're making some wise choices. I won't miss the Black Friday shopping as crowds overwhelm me, but gifting is fun..:) Happy Holidays.
