So true ! A gift is to use your child eyes throughout life and remain positive. Not an easy task but a place to return to for renewal.

Re: The tragedy isn't that ...
Thank you for your coment GG but I just had to respond (something I don't normally feel the need to do) as I do believe you have misinterpreted the meaning of this piecek, which is that if we ALL managed to keep the child within us to some extent, this world would be so different - there would not be so much evil and nastiness in it and more love and good. I in no way intended to convey that we should ignore the other part of life but if we are always only focusing on that part we miss so much beauty and sometimes we need our make believe world to get away from some of these realities for a short time........ blessings and thanks

The tragedy isn't that ...
... we don't keep our child within alive but, that the reality is real.
It's many who manage to keep alive the inner child but, it doesn't mean that life is paradise. Sorry to say it but, reality is that we have Darfur in our world and, other places like that, as well as rape, violence, greed, thieves, swindlers ... and terror in even peaceful countries.
We can dream away but, it won't help those who really need support because of their hardship and difficulties in many tragic ways - we can run away and hide from the ugly world but, the world doesn't stop to be dangerous.
Hiding from the disgusting negativity is against the law of nature where positivism and negativity are two opposite poles ... life is real when the two poles is acknowledged.
To face reality is the best way to help myself and therefore others and ... to keep my inner child alive, from my point of view ...
Plent more to say about this theme - it's an everlasting theme -

At first
I thought this was really sad but then ultimately uplifting. Thanks goodness the ego doesn't let go and the child within each of us is there somewhere. Lovely poem

This touched on so many theories I have read
and agree with, to some degree. Part of my bid to become more self-responsible is the need to not cripple a child with my issues.
Beautifull expressed, my dear, I think this may be one of your best

Isn’t it strange how we celebrate and honour the arrival of new baby but then as the years start to unfold we unconsciously taint their innocence and magnificent self-esteem. Or, the same deterioration took place for us. Then you wake up one day and realize there are all kinds of negative messages running through your head and a re-birth of sorts has to take place. Thank goodness many of us are embracing this powerful process of getting back in touch with the pureness of our spirit and the power running through us. Clearly, from you poetry, you are a woman who understands this imperative of this journey.

From the moment we're born....
....everyone is pulling us away from ourselves.
A few of us manage to come full-circle and re-gather at least a part of what was lost.
Excellent, insightful poem, Mariaki.
