the temptation of Jesus

and as with Job. Scripture elucidates the dynamic of what is going on:

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Rom 8:28.

This does not mean that God uses Satan as a tool to effect a positive desired ultimate outcome. Rather, it is a demonstrations of God  (infinate) superior power and intelligence when compare to His adversary, that can be demonstrated when a person continues to trust God even in the face of acute affliction. It all boils down to: whom will you trust?

But make no mistake, Satan is the antagonist. And he has the right, he secured it from Adam. But trsut in the Second Adam supercedes the the authprity of the first Adam.

Remember Jesus spoke of the devil as a literal personality in John 8:44  You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
