So often we get our first snow of the season on Thanksgiving Day, or that night.  Well Thanksgiving Day here is only a week away now, so we shall see what we shall see.  The first snow is always such a lovely thing.

Auslander

I know what you mean when you talk about unfettered development! We have seen the same in our area! The hills to the North, (not as beautiful as the Gatineau, but still...) are being plastered with monstrosities...

And get that car looked after!!!

We moved outside years ago but I am still a girl in the wilds of Alaska.  I will never get use to all these houses and all the cement.

I so much agree with what you say. Take this little place here in Turkey. 5 years ago when I bought my place there were olive tres, sheep, large open spaces and the sea in the background. Now you can't see for buildings, all 3 - 4 story soulless apartment complexes nobody buys anyway. I have had enough. The only positive thing is, that I make a good profit. I put the place up for sale and when I return next year I look for Istanbul. At least there is culture, life apart from stupid tourists and..to reply to your comment..restaurants that are a) safe and b) serve Turkish food, not fish and chips. Keep writing on your German website. Why don't you add a section on "Trachten", you know traditional clothing and where to get them. They are quite pretty. Tschüsss
