Re:
Welcome, Zenmom, and my prayers for your illness. To clarify: The only stem cell research President Bush opposed was fetal stem cells. And I do indeed hope I will be pleasantly surprised.

Re: Que sera sera... I am not fatalistic, but I don't think Obama's policies
Indeed, not alone - but they will have an influence on these issues. For example, he has favored slyrocketing electric rates due to imposition of his clean coal policies.

Que sera sera... I am not fatalistic, but I don't think Obama's policies
alone will determine those matters you listed out

Re:
Actually, it started a little less than 2 years ago....when Congress changed hands.......match Writer's criteria for November 2006 to today and you will see when and why the slide started.....it's easy to make remarks and statements based on emotions because they make you feel real good......Yeah, I got that off my chest......but emotion is not the basis of what determines what history is written on........well, up untilnow, who knows what methodology we will be now using.....

Writer....i love this post..please keep us up on the progress or regress as it occurs...

Excellent Idea
My guess is that Obama will benefit from history again.  He came onto the national scene when the economy was bad, and other things were falling apart, and that gave him an easy ride.  But things will get better, at least in the economy, because people will keep trying and many will succeed.  Four years from now, the economy will be growing, whatever Obama does with fiscal policy, and he will benefit again.  The true effects of Obama's policies may get lost in the background, but he will claim, and probably be granted, credit for the next phase of the natural business cycle.  After all, it worked for Reagan.

Took longer than 4 years for this MESS to happen........gonna take at least one term to see lasting change. HOWEVER, if Obama does what some are reporting (reversing Bush's executive orders, i.e. federal funding for stem cell research), I might, once again, be hopeful that a cure for my MS might one day be found. But, you keep you tabs on his "progress" in those tangible areas............I think you'll be surprised.
