You seem a bit worried, maybe even paranoid. Christianity is and will remain for the foreseeable future the dominant religion in America. Attacks on Christianity here come mainly from repressed populations, and often enough in self-defense. But it may be true that we humans have predatory instincts, and that under the right conditions we are all capable of atrocities. On the other hand, we also have communal instincts; we are a social species by nature, and universally agree that killing humans is bad. Being aware of these contradictory instincts gives us greater control over them. So, to quote Captain Kirk, I will not kill today. I believe I can sustain that decision through the rest of my life. It's worked so far, and I saw the show over thirty years ago.
