Re: Re: Re: Re: Partial Agreement
Obama just barely won?  By 7 million votes and 160 Electoral College votes.  The point about Sarah Palin is that she didn't help McCain because only Social Conservatives supported her, or even accepted her.

McCain said he put country first, then chose a running mate based on political calculation, and one unready to be president, which is the only important criterion for VP.  In choosing her, McCain lost his claim of principle over politics, his argument that experience mattered, and his hopes of attracting independents and moderate Democrats.  Unless she abandons most of her positions, she will never be a viable candidate for national office on her own.

And maybe these young people voted because the country is in such a mess, and they recognized their responsibility.  That's what my 18-year-old daughter claims.

Re: Re: Re: Partial Agreement
"60% of the public believe she is unready for the job of president."  Fortunate for her then that she wasn't running for president.  Your guy just barely won, and the only reason he did is because, for the first time in recent history, naïve young people and college students actually went out and voted because pop-culture made it the chic thing to do.  Just like it was trendy to buy a Tickle Me Elmo doll a few years back; just like standing around the water cooler talking about the last episode of "Friends" used to be cool; just like wanting to cross that velvet rope to get into Studio 54, everybody wants to be able to say they voted for Vinny Obamarino.  This too will pass.  The thing is, Tickle Me Obama is going to cost you a lot more than Elmo did.  Remember the Elmo!

I wonder who will be the first to write a book, The Palin Factor......describing the fascinating effect her appearance on the national scene has had.....I can see the sociologists, psychologists, political analysts of all slices talking about "The Palin Factor" in future elections when someone creates such interest and debate.  There must be something kind of special at work here.......

Re: Corbin Dallas
Governor Palin lost support for McCain among independents and others for her extreme views on abortion, her complete lack of understanding of science and foreign affairs, and her apparent unwillingness or inability to face the press.  The size of her crowds mean nothing, any more than the size of Obama's crowds.  Most of the people who voted never went to a rally.  Pat Buchanan always drew huge crowds, but never topped 40% in a primary.  People who get 40% in a general election lose.

Re: Re: Partial Agreement
60% of the public believe she is unready for the job of president.  40% is never enough to win an election.  She drove away moderates and independents.  Crowds are not enough in a country of 300 million.

Corbin_Dallas,
You obviously would not know "fraud" if it bit off the rest of your backside. We have endured eight years of fraud! You obviously have not been listening President Elect of the United States of America. Or are you leaving, if so I could possibly spring for the ticket (one-way)!

Character assassination is always ugly.  But, most of all it demeans the one who does it.

If you ever start actually paying attention, you'll recognize that the neo-nihilism your party pitches is in direct opposition to the fundamental principles on which America was founded.  Moral ambiguity might sell, but it does not prosper.

Corbin_Dallas,
We appreciate the effort but it is time for you to give it a rest. Or have you really been sober these last 30 years!

When that high and holly "Conservative Base", finally emerges from its caveman stupor it will recognize that the Planet has seen or looked through its empty core and found nothing worth "conserving"! Sara Palin it is my hope that she does find a clue.

Re: Partial Agreement
"narrow public appeal?"  Are you kidding me?  Did you see any of those campaign rallies?  I would have preferred Mitt Romney as VP selection over Sarah Palin, but to suggest that she hurt the ticket is asinine.  The only reason McCain had a chance is because of Palin reenergizing the conservative base.

Excuse me Corbin but this comment is for MOUSEHOP: I see you have opened your mouth again. Sarah Palin is not lacking, those who are back biting are. I can see you belong to that crowd.  She is strong, had wide public acceptance. She drew greater crowds than McCain. You and so many like you are not only ignorant of human value but you are a sexist.

Partial Agreement
I agree that this back-biting is disgusting, and that some attacks of Sarah Palin are beyond the pale.  I also agree that the proper target of criticism is John McCain, who chose Palin without adequate vetting.  Her inadequacies for the job and narrow public appeal revealed a fatal flaw in his judgment.  That is a major reason he lost.

What's more sickening is that women are more vicious towards her
than men are. But then again, if I looked like Joy Behar, Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg, Katie Couric, or Nancy Pelosi, I'd hate Sarah Palin too! Liberal women have become ugly inside and out!

the wardrobe thing really bothers me - she needed the clothes for the campaign - they dress all kinds of people who are in the spotlight. when i worked for an attorney years ago we got a clothing allowance. plus she gave it all back - just leave her alone.

It wouldn't have mattered how well prepared Palin was, the left would've hated her anyway. She is their boogey man.

… but her “aww, gee” or “shucks” approach to interviews or speech making kind of made her an easy target, don’t you think?  And now, well, they just have to find someone to blame.  It may not be fair or right or justified but it happens.
