- Go to Planned Parenthood -- Killing Black Babies -- Why Obama, Why???????????????
Jane
I have to agree with mousehop, there is very little evidence of a policy 'targeting' black babies. But as far as the statistics are concerned, I need to remind him that, while the number for live births is probably fairly accurate, the number for abortions is probably not. There is fairly strong evidence that abortions are under-reported...

Re: mousehop, I disagree
I'm afraid your math is off a bit. The statistic is that the abortion ratio for black women is 491 abortions/1000 live births, which is not 50% of all pregnancies (half of all black 'babies'), but a little less than 1/3. Still a large number. But the ratio is close among all non-white women, so it isn't so much a black thing. It is probably better explained through socioeconomic status, and has more to do with access to birth control and knowledge of how to use it. After all, rates of sexual activity are about the same across the board, but unwanted pregnancies are not.
I agree that abortion rates are too high, especially among the lower economic classes, but I don't see evidence of an anti-black conspiracy, despite the actors at UCLA (shocking, but not representative).
As for Partial Birth Abortion, there probably is not scientific reason to legalize it, but there is also no scientific reason not to. It is a medical procedure used by medical experts under conditions they believe justify it. There are other late-term abortion procedures that can be used, but they also have risks. IMHO it should be up to the doctors and patients to decide which procedures should be used, not Congress or other parties without direct interest and knowledge of each individual case. Governments have no qualifications to be practicing medicine.

mousehop, I disagree
I have read, from several sources, the facts about Planned Parenthood and the black population. More than 50% of black babies are being killed by abortion. This is fact. Blacks comprise 12.3% of the population but black women are having 37% of abortions (according to liberal organization Guttmacher Institute). Whites comprise 75.1% of the population (both according to the 2000 census) but are having 34% of the abortions. You're smart; you figure it out. There's a huge disproportionate number there.
From all that I have read (granted biased in favor of the pro life position), there is no scientific reason for partial birth abortion to be legalized.

Questions
Your portrayal of Obama's positions regarding abortion don't seem to jibe with mine. I suggest you read davideskin's post for facts about the born-alive bills and babies born during attempted abortions. As for partial birth abortion, I don't think Congress, or anyone else without full medical training, should be making decisions about specific medical proceudres. Obama and I don't agree on that; he favors a ban that allows certain exceptions. I favor letting doctors make medical decisions, without interference from politicians and propagandists.
That article you reference is full of propagandistic nonsense. It is not an accurate portrayal of any of Obama's positions, as far as I can tell. It doesn't take advanced math to see the errors. It's just arithmetic.

Well, Xenox, according to research by students at UCLA,
it has become apparent that PP is actively targeting black babies. Read up on Margaret Sanger, founder of PP; it is evident she had the same thing in mind many years ago.

"kiling Black babies" -- makes PLanned Parenthood seem racist.
as if they're intentionally targeting African Americans.
Skewing information in an attempt to fit a perception.
Coiuld it be that African-American women, as I thought I had said, are using PLanned Parenthood more than those of European descent?
And are not in a position to be cowed by abortion foes.
Again I say, put yourself in such a positon if you can. YOu have never been there and you have no right to make such statements or judge.
You are just using a particular statistic to make a spurious point.

As I understand it many young black women are having abortions. So this makes it quite obvious as to why Obama is abortion happy.
I don't know why Xeno doesn't like the line "killing black babies." Isn't that the truth?
If that's not the PC way to say it than too bad as the raw truth is best.

maybe it's because the mothers want abortions
You, not having ever been in such a situation (I would surmise), have no idea about what you are talking about.
Children -- 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 years old -- not ready for having children -- a father who is not mucholder if any -- no income, not much hope for a children in the society the girl lives in -- and seeing her environment -- seeing no hope for a child born there -- except maybe what the boys around her are odng -- drugs, gangs, violence, death.
not having the child would be better than bringing it into such an environment
now, if you want the girl to have the chld, then maybe you could help change the environment.
But you don;'t want to.
Let's do this -- I won't spew out all the things you don't want this girl to have such as a stable household, and education, a good job, health care, etc.
I will ask you to post. In that post, you will delinieate all the things you would do for that girl to change her environment to make it safe for a child -- to help her maybe avoid having a child until the right time. What do you propose to change the situation.
instead of putting out that "killing black baby" line.

Everything I hear or read about him is yet another reason not to vote for him. Say hello to Miss Beasley for us--the kitty and me.
