Re: Don't let the media tell you what to think...well said, my friend!

hi teddy----got that right.  Everyone needs to take a step back and see people for what and who they really are.

Politics is NOT a God, and neither is either party.  They are equally as flawed, equally as irresponsible, equally as selfish, equally as responsible for the decline and fall of the US economy.

The choice before us is not a good one.  Which is why we have to learn how the US works, so that we can best fix it.  The question should be, which candidate is going to do the things that will allow WE THE PEOPLE to get back on our feet and fix this economy, not who is going to save the world.

Re: FYS,

Katray, who cares if it were true or not?  Look at the behavior of people as the story unfolded.  Right wingers blasting it around with "SEE! SEE! I TOLD YOU!" and Left wingers justifying it with "THE RIGHT HAS BEEN WORSE!!!!"

Let me tell you something.  I have spent time viewing both websites, and as a result have been added to email lists for both sides, and I have received dirty emails in my inbox from BOTH SIDES, in equal quantities.  The left is more artistic and clever, but it's still dirty mud-slinging.  (feces tied in a pretty red bow is still feces).

FYS,
"What about the Obama supporters cutting up McCain supporters at an ATM Machine--are they good people?"...did you readily believe that story? (which turns out to be completely fabricated, btw) It's because people are all too willing to accept the smears as truth that prevents a rational discussion about the issues. I've tried, online and off, to have intelligent discourse over health care, taxes, the wars and there is just too much fear mongering and raw hatred spewing from both sides, but from my perspective, much more so from the right - I received Republican dirty ads in my mailbox this week-end, (nothing at all similar from the Democrats) talked to my neighbors and that is the issue, as far as they are concerned - that Obama is a terrorist/Communist/lawless, angry black man..so many cannot get past the lies and mud slinging. I admit to being affected by it to a certain degree - I researched McCain's ties to Liddy and posted the findings as a knee jerk reaction to the b.s. from the other side... but, in my defense, I also have a post comparing each candidate's tax proposals..:)
I've never felt such unease over an election. The economy imploding seems to be pushing many people over the edge politically, but it is deeper than that, of course.

Re:
sam, I almost never watch television.  And this campaign has become nothing more than a reality program.  Let's see how much we can insult each other, sway from the issues, talk about crap that doesn't matter, and encourage everyone to act like morons.  People have no idea how controlled they are by their televisions.

Re: FYS
Nautikos, thank you for reading!  I've been popping in on you, and yes, you do know the issues.  Sad, isn't it?  Non-Americans knowing more about how the US works than people that live here.  No wonder we're so hated abroad.

Most excellent! It has been awful. I rarely watch television. If I do it is an educational program. The reality shows are inane, you are so right! sam

FYS
You're so right! And even I know more about the issues than the average American, and I'm a mere Canadian...
