I like Pat's advice. You dont need them nearly as much as they need you. Good Luck! .. oh and can you finish up the laundry that I started Saturday while you are at it?

I like this approach.  Thanks, Pat.  I can get myself to look at all this from this perspective.  I just hope I can sustain it.

Re:
Thanks, Sam.  I think the director is a regular guy (of female persuasion) after a couple of phone calls.  Rationally, I know what to do.  Now if only I can convince my irrational side.

Maybe it would help if you go into the interview backwards.
Pretend you've already made your worst possible impression on these guys/gals. You have nothing left to lose. It's time to put the shoe on the other foot. Interview them. Ask what they think the job should be, what their expectations are. Where do they want to be in five years? And then listen politely. Thank them for their time. You'll get back to them. There's no question, after all, about whether or not you can do the job. You'd be great at it. The question is whether or not you'd want to. It's up to them to win you over.

This is a very tough situation. Your track record shows how much anxiety it can create for you. I think if you could look at the person who will be interviewing you as just a regular 'guy' it might reduce the anxiety. Focus on the job and let them know how well you can perform and what an asset you would be to them. You are your best advocate and I wish you all the best! Laundry since Sunday, a bit behind. lol sam
