Xeno-x - there is a relationship between alien abduction stories and Satanic cult stories. Both of these anxieties went through a recent period where they were at the forefront of our collective interest. Both relied heavily on a since discredited method of deriving "proof" of their existence in repressed memory therapy. Basically, the subject is hypnotized and recounts stories that they had learned somewhere previously. Exorcism has gone through much of the same things. It took about a decade and a half before people investigating exorcism stopped and said "hey, wait a minute, all of these people are doing Linda Blair impersonations" . . . .

Northeast MO -- had cattle by reports with clean cuts -- parts removed.
And then again, we had our own Sasquatch for a while, called MoMo (Missouri Monster).
thought i'd mention it.
