Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Peace is coming tomorrow
No misconceptions?  Hmm.  And history means nothing?  So . . . Obama's past associations are not relevant to the current campaign?  An interesting view, if misguided.  History tells us it was the British and Americans who created the state of Israel, largely for reasons based in religious mythology, and in contradiction to promises made to Arab allies during the two world wars.  See Nautikos' series on Israel.  So the arabs have non-religious reasons to be suspicious of Westerners and Israelis, and the conflict is not entirely the result of Palestinians and Jews.  History influences everyone's thinking, even those who activley try to deny history or its power.

It's also not true that all liberals hate Republicans.  For example, we love Colin Powell again.  And Christopher Buckley.  And I, for one, have a strong respect and liking for Senators Hagel and Lugar.  But then, your broad, sweeping statements about liberals and everything else are not even meant to signify reality.  (All generalities are false.)  History shows us that you just like tossing them out there to play "Gotcha".  Enjoy.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Peace is coming tomorrow

I have no misconceptions, reality is what it is and you should acknowledge it. But as always like liberals you blame people who have nothing to do with their bird-brained conflict.

The only people responsible for the conflict is the Jews and Palestinians themselves.

It also shows your lack of understanding of history and where we are now as a result.  Your misconceptions and those similar of a lot of people helps keep this crisis continuing.

Re: Re: Peace is coming tomorrow

And now Jews/Christians are united. could be money eh?

Maybe it helps you to stay back in time so that Christians look like the bad guys. Liberals always have to be against Christians and whites.

Israel could give up their whole country to the Palestinians and they would turn it into a worthless ghetto. And the rest of the Arab world would still hate the Jews no matter what. Arab nations could take Palestinians but they don't. That's how much they really care about each other. They only unite to hate.

Jews/Christians have money, other than sheiks Arabs are pretty poor. They're naturally envious and hateful and their leaders don't give a shi*t about their people.

History is for people who want to be stuck there.

Re: Peace is coming tomorrow
Arabs tolerated, respected and honored Jews for centuries when Christians tortured them. Jews held an esteemed place in Arab society, where they were anathema, evil, Satan's children and totally despised by Christians.

The problem came with the displacement in Palestine.

Re: Xeno the idealist doesn't get it -- Posted by mordent

You are the one that doesn't get it.

If someone slaps and beats on you and mistreats you, then you get mad -- and you might just get back at that person some day.

Palestinians have had land taken from them.  Jewish settlments and the Wall are taking more of their land.

If the U.S. can make an effort to straighten things out with Iran, then I think there will be peace there.  They have reason to hate us.  We have to take away that reason.

Same with Palestinians, Israel and the U.S. have to take away the reason for violence.

there has to be an understanding reached --

to continue the policies we have had toward the rest of the world is to continue an exchange of violence.  peace comes from peaceable people.

Xeno the idealist doesn't get it

You're always looking for some political incident to blame it on. Some people just hate what is too different from themselves.

You're kidding yourself to think the Palestinians will stop bombing Jews if they give up some land etc. etc.

Palestinians bomb Jews because of boredom and jealousy not because of religious differences or stealing land so to speak and the bombings will continue no matter what they do. They will always find excuses.

The Shah and the histrionics of the Middle-East are interesting but irrelevant to now. Those who think they will live better with US influence will like us. As for the rest of them they will look at how different our values, religions, foreign policy, skin color, way of dress and just plain dislike or hate us.

Just like you plain dislike or hate Republicans and vice-versa.

You should get all this touchy, feely, idealism out of your head. You should also quit putting so much emphasis on history as it is gone. Start accepting the practical reality of now.

Re: Posted by Corbin_Dallas
thank you for that information -- shows the shah's real loyalties.

Iran's axis with the Third Reich began during the prewar years, when it welcomed Nazi Gestapo agents and other operatives to Tehran, allowing them to use the city as a base for Middle East agitation against the British and the region's Jews.

So intense was the shah's identification with the Third Reich that in 1935 he renamed his ancient country "Iran," which in Farsi means Aryan and refers to the Proto-Indo-European lineage that Nazi racial theorists and Persian ethnologists cherished.

Per Wikipedia,

"The name Iran is a cognate of Aryan, and means "Land of the Aryans"."
