Re: To nearly be in an accident
If I'm 'working' or travelling to or from work, I wear a clerical collar. Not if I'm out and about for myself. I was wearing one last night - the poor guy probably thought I'd come with the Last Rites!! (Did happen once on a hospital visit. I visited a young man who'd had a terrible car accident and I got there soon after the accident. As soon as he saw me he thought he was dying. But he's still with us, although sadly, now confined to a wheelchair.)

To nearly be in an accident
is nearly as unsettling as being in one! I, too, speak from experience.
I am wondering, do you wear a clerical collar or otherwise is it evident you are clergy to those you pass on the street? I once knew a woman who was tall to begin with, and as a Sikh, dressed all in white and wore a white turban. She was also a minister and counselor. Once, when someone asked why she wore the white, she replied, "So you can find me when you need me."
