Yes, Aardi; we are both on the same wavelength here!

Meaningless denials that are still very usefull
I agree with your point of view in this matter.  We can only deny a concept.  You cannot validly and intelligently deny that a dog is a rabbit if you have no concept of a dog or a rabbit. Once you have a concept of a rabbit you can validly and intelligently deny that a dog is a rabbit unless your own conception of a dog or rabbit does not correspond to the agreed upon valid conception.  When there is no concept of God there can obviously be no denial either.  This is why I maintain that Atheists deny the existence of their own conception of other peoples conceptions of God which is then in itself meaningless and simply a denial and rejection of a concept that exists nowhere but in their own minds.  I don't expect them to understand this though and they are actually really useful in pointing out unacceptable conceptions of God that exist in some believers minds.  They perform a great service to mankind.  I'm thankful they are here.

Re: here ya go

O.K. Thanks for responding so quickly. Of course I am familiar with Romans 12, but I had always applied it as instruction to grown men and women.  While it may be just as well applicable to the newly-born infant, this might be stretching it some, don't you think?

Thanks for the info!

Re: I think contemplation of the situation of the infant,

Yes! I agree, both with you and Descartes. God intends that anyone who wishes can know Him, even if he spends his entire existence in isolation on a desserted island.  HIS presence is everywhere, in the sands of the beeches and the stars above.

Thanks, Ammon, it was my pleasure to hear from you!

here ya go
"For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Romans 12:3

I think contemplation of the situation of the infant,
as you have introduced here, is very revealing.  As Descartes deduced, the first clear truth we can have is that we exist.  No one can deny their existence.  From this point we begin to develop a belief system that is based upon our experiences and contemplations.  This is why nature and our environment are so important.  I have written blogs before about how the beauty of God may be discerned through nature.  I believe that a person who comes up in total isolation, without any one to testify to him, may still come to know God through his encounter with the world and with himself.  Great post.

While I have read the entire Bible several times thru, I do not remember that "measure of faith at birth" scripture(s) at all, and for my lnformation and study, I would like to have it at my disposal.  I would be most gratefull if you would sent it to me! Thanks.

Re: "whom" you ask, actually
Yes! "on whom you ask" would be even more correct. Thanks for your austere submission. I always consider it an honor to add your name to my commentator list!

Well, depends who you ask...since you asked (me), I will share that the
Bible says everyone is given "a measure of faith" at birth...what you do with it from there is up to you.
