Go to Malcolm's midwife: Words from the heartAdd a commentGo to Windmills of my mind

I enjoyed your description of the windmill! I think most of us have regrets about not being there/doing enough when the kinds were young, but I'm sure we all did the best we could, at that time.

There is a reason for the nostalgia my friend
and you can be sure you will realize what it is out of nowhere!  Many blessings and thanks for sharing

Malcolm
I think we all do some of that “beating up”.  My daughter is now 24 and I think back to her younger days and wonder how I might have made her life richer or fuller but I have come to realize I did what I could.  And if I have many wonderful memories – of times when we laughed and played in the sun, or dipped our toes in the ocean – than she too must have delightful memories.  There’s no turning back – there’s only moving forward.

Instead of struggling with your moemories
try taking a little time to understand the need hiding behind your recent bout of nostalgia, thinking back to times of closeness often indicate a need to reconnect with the people involved or a need to be reassured that the closeness will remain even though other things may change.

Of course, both of those examples are generalisations and essentially meaningless in comparison to your own reasons and truths, but this may be the most fulfilling way forward for you.

Malcom, I never went riding just to find a windmill, but have used them as a distraction while traveling with my kids. I like the idea of just looking for them. ~OTA
