I was with you with the English muffins and peanut butter until you said “crunchy”. It has to be smooth. And I haven’t had liverwurst in years but it was a staple in my life for a good many years.

you're making me hungry now! My favourite bread thing comes from when we lived in Spain, and a ciabatta type bread is best for it. You have it for breakfast. Simply toast the bread, slather it with lots of olive oil, then top with tomatoes and season. I whizz the tomatoes in the blender with a little oil and seasoning, and a whole garlic clove (Optional!) to make a spread. We sometimes add a slice of jamon too (air-dried ham). And with a lovely strong coffee, it's a blissful start to the day.
