and for being highly accountable. Right? I agree with your definition of praise. It is a manner of affirming that you are in favor of something.

No...ammon, I do not praise reason and accountability - because I am not insane.
Look up the word praise... it can be used in such contexts as praising your child or your pet for performing well... or an employee, or in my case a student. It does not mean worship.... nor can you praise concepts - like rational thought or accountability.

I agree Gomes... I am quite shocked sometimes while in the normal course of a professional conversation... when a co-worker is posed with some dilemma - to hear, "I will pray about this." or when there is a conflict, "Because of my personal relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ..."

because every human that I’ve ever met holds something to the highest esteem – every human that I’ve ever met has something to praise – often it is a lover, automobile, occupation, or many other material things. Every human lifts something up to the forefront of their conscious. Spirituality is about making a reasoned and purposeful selection about what is right and deserving of praise and not bestowing it mistakenly upon the mirages of materialism.

over all of the existing theology, dogma, superstition, and ritual that you disagree with. That is what you really oppose, not God. Why can’t you simply understand that God is what you worship. What you worship is that which is foremost in your psyche, and what you hold to be most dear. When you start to analyze what is most dear to you, you eventually become closely attuned to your conscience. Praying is about connecting more fully with your conscience, not about asking for things.
You have to employ your energies here on earth for something. You can either declare there is no God and allow your energies to be siphoned off by whatever attention grabbing activity happens to be appealing to you at the moment or you can start to think about the things that are worthy of your praise and energy; and so devote yourself. Just throw away all the theology and start to look for God from this most simple perspective.
