sounds OK
"A beer" should not be a problem for a mature 20-year-old.  Other countries do not have age restrictions on alcohol, and children can grow up learning how to drink responsibly (a little wine with dinner now and then) so it doesn't seem like a "forbidden fruit" when they become teenagers and doesn't tempt them to excess.

Multiple beers could be a problem.  Studies show that the earlier you start heavy drinking or substance use, the more likely you are to develop alcoholism.  But if your daughter was beneath the breathalyzer benchmark for the definition of drunkenness, she probably didn't drink that much.

Sounds like she learned her lesson, in any case.

Doesn't surprise me that there is an occasional beer at a Christian college.  At 18 years old, the students are still forming their identities about what it means to them to be Christians.  Probably few of them will decide that their personal devotion requires complete abstention from alcohol.  They're not studying to be monks, I assume.

It is so difficult on young people. They never think they are going to get caught. I am glad it wasn't drugs and it was fairly minor enough to teach a good lesson.  It will be to her benefit. I made my mistakes my first year in college too. sam
