FineYoungSinger - I'm surprised at what some of the people gracing this very site have come up with, though maybe I shouldn't be.

RITE2SPIN - I'm still waiting for that link?

"later on, I'll show you where he stated he and his wife attended flag burning's on more than one occasion."

I am certain that whatever you think you have seen is bunk but I can shed a little light on what you think you are talking about. A couple of years ago, as an Illinois senator, Obama voted against a flag burning motion. The vote against has become fodder for right wing knuckleheads to manufacture a grandiose rumor without any consideration (or knowledge of, we can presume) of what the motion itself entailed. Do you really think it possible that a smart man with political ambitions such as Obama would be a party to an activity that would instantly derail his political carreer?

My only advice to you is to check your sources, (if they in fact exist)

This is probably the ugliest presidential campaign that I've ever seen...

and surprisingly, the candidates aren't the ones being the ugliest....their supporters (both sides) and the media ARE.

Now ask me if either candidate is qualified to be president and I'll tell you no, and give you a litany of reasons for both sides, pertaining to the issues falling under the job description.

And for the record:

ARAB is a collective term for human beings THAT SPEAK ARABIC and either are living in or hailing from Middle-Eastern nations outside of Israel.  Last time I looked at a map, neither Kenya (where Obama's family hails from) nor America (where Obama lives) are in the Middle East.  And if Obama speaks Arabic, he's in good company, so did my grandmother, an ARAB.

So how about everyone just stick to REAL issues, like whether or not either one of these clowns can do the job?

stonedead - it's the "staying power" as you put it that really surprises me
Especially surprising when the facts to disprove these fallacies are so readily and easily available. Then the part that really suprises me is the complete lack of common sense needed to not be suspicious of some of these rumors. For example, the Democratic party and its financial supporters have invested multi-millions in their chosen candidate, do these people really think that so many important aspects of the candidate were overlooked before this investment was made?

the lady with the crazy hair
Did you see the news clip of the woman with the crazy orange hair who stood up at a rally for McCain and told McCain she couldn't trust Obama because "he's an Arab"?

Where do people get this stuff from?  I just don't understand where the false rumors--OR the blatant, hideous racism--come from, and why they have staying power.

RITE2SPIN - I'm aware of Rev. Wright and that some of his views are

controversial and I have seen that video before.

I'm reluctant however to offer condemnation of one religious viewpoint with ulterior agenda over any other similarly agenda laden religious viewpoint. Especially when that viewpoint is interwoven with the black experience in the USA, something us white folks should try to understand but may never be able to, at least fully. The part I have a problem with is how Rev. Wright is more problematic to some with his brand of rhetoric than the John Hage's, or Pat Roberton's of this world. Don't they all deserve to be at least considered equally crazy?
