This from the guy who said, on air, of Obama, "I wanna cut his nuts off?"  You don't need a rubber stamp to repudiate a guy like that!!  Like American newspapers, you will see a variety of viewpoints in the Israeli press.  It's a Democratic nation, after all, with a growing number of black Ethiopian Jewish immigrants who can relate to our youngest candidate.  The choice is not so black and white - even in Israel.  Mal

Re: Do you think Israel would prefer McCain or Obama?
JERUSALEM, Israel - Rev. Jesse Jackson said an Obama administration would rid the United States of  "Zionist control," Tuesday's New York Post reported.

According to Jackson, Zionists "have controlled American policy for decades," but with Obama in the White House, that will change.

Obama "wants an aggressive and dynamic diplomacy," Jackson told participants of the first World Policy Forum in Evian, France, and he will bring about "fundamental changes" in U.S. foreign policy, especially in the Middle East, where for decades, according to Jackson, the U.S. has put "Israel's interests first."

Jackson criticized the Bush administration for being "afraid of a snafu and of upsetting Israel," promising that Obama will change that "because, as long as the Palestinians haven't seen justice, the Middle East will "remain a source of danger to us all."

"Barack is determined to repair our relations with the world of Islam and Muslims," he said. "Thanks to his background and ecumenical approach, he knows how Muslims feel while remaining committed to his own faith," Jackson said.

Obama spokeswoman Wendy Morigi responded to the remarks by saying that Rev. Jackson "is not an advisor to the Obama campaign and is therefore in no position to interpret or share" Obama's "views on Israel or foreign policy."

"No false charges can change Barack Obama's unshakeable commitment to Israel's security," she added.

McCain spokesman Tucker Brown also commented on Rev. Jackson's speech.

"Literally, nobody knows what Barack Obama's policies would be if he were elected president, but it's very concerning that people believe he will not be a friend to Israel."

With friends like these, who needs enemas.  I have no proof of this, but I heard that, when Obama was informed of Jackson's statement, he merely pulled out his recently custom-made rubber stamp that says "I repudiate this person, and never met them before in my life.  I renounce, denounce, and deny any association to them or their actions and/or statements.  Hope & Change," and then stamped a memo to the press, a.k.a., the Obama Action Committee.

Thanks Mal

Do you think Israel would prefer McCain or Obama?

Interesting question, and not one easily answered, believe it or not.  A Jerusalem Post columnist recently came out in favor of Obama, saying in part, "On the subject of minds, I think Obama's is clearly the superior one. It's not just that he no doubt has the higher IQ, it's that his decision-making process is more deliberative than McCain's, he weighs the pros and cons more thoroughly, he's more curious and open-minded. McCain goes more from the gut, and with his Cold War instincts and right-wing support, that worries me."

With my own ear keen to what my Israeli friends are thinking - they are as split on our candidates as we are, with more and more leaning towards Obama.  McCain's shoot-from-the-hip approach and VP choice freaks 'em out a bit.

By the way, Rush (doesn't rhyme with Bush) Limbaugh could never compete with your glorious linguistic loop-da-loops, my dear Cunning!  You are infinitely more interesting.   Mal

Re: Gapcohen
Who knew that the Dallas Cowboys would register to vote in Nevada?

Comparing Limbaugh to Farrakhan is a stretch, you have to admit that.  As much as the left tries to paint Rush as the Devil incarnate, Farrakhan makes a far more convincing Lucifer.

And, Mal, you're a very intelligent woman, are you going to try to tell me that foreign enemies have no interest in who our next Commander in Chief will be?  With unprecedented voter fraud going on -- I'm sure it has nothing at all to do with Obama's past association w/ Acorn; just another one of the countless isolated incidents following the poor guy around -- is it unreasonable to suspect that Undocumented Foreign Folks will be voting?  Do illegal immigrants tend to vote Republican?  Do you think Israel would prefer McCain or Obama?

I heard Rush Limbaugh call Cunninglinguist the Messiah, but does that make it so??  Honestly.  Really? Farrakhan gives me the willies, and while I'm not a diehard fan of Obama, the guy is not the second coming of Osama, despite the unfortunate similarity of names.  And as far as Hamas goes, as much as it means for a foreign terrorist organization to endorse an American presidential candidate, why would they pick the nutty old white guy with the gal whose hairdo won't fit conveniently under a burka?  Who knew Hamas votes the Democratic ticket? Wow.

Re: Sinome
Most people don't know that the terrorist group Hamas endorses Obama either.  And it was conveniently packaged Friday afternoon (avoiding weekday coverage heading into the long weekend) that the Obama campaign's Muslim outreach director took part in a meeting attended by SEVERAL controversial Muslim activists.  The Obama campaign now concedes it was a misjudgment, but it's cool anyway -- because nobody noticed.  "Troopergate" was all over everything I tried to read Friday afternoon and on through Saturday, though.

Sinome, the mainstream media is essentially a wing of the Democrat party.  You ask who's protecting Barack, the answer is virtually all major media outlets.  Fox News and the Wall Street Journal are pretty much the only exceptions.  And I don't endorse either, because they're carrying water for the other side, which isn't real journalism either.

Thanks for coming.  :-)

This is so scary to me... I never thought someone like this could get this far in an elective process...how is it that I don't hear anything about this in the news?  Gawd I heard all about McCain's E-mails and his brushes with temper... who is protecting this Barak and shielding him from exposure?  Very disturbing ... Thanks for sharing this.

Re: Sam I Am
I would like to think so, but I'm afraid it's too little too late.  So many powerful people are determined to make sure that their investment pays off.  He's probably been President since he first threw his hat into the ring.  Predetermined.

Re: Oh the irony..
NewYorker, that's interesting to note.  So we are forced to rely on Muslim extremists to take out the garbage.  What an awkward situation in which to find one's self.  Farrakhan adheres to no rules, religious or otherwise, despite what his egotistical title of "the Supreme Minister of the Nation of Islam" may imply.  Captain Kangaroo was neither a Captain nor a kangaroo.

Thanks for the education, NYIS.

Oh the irony..
In a Muslim world Farrakahn can technically be declared an apostate for recognizing another Messiah, hence be killed.
