Re: Partial Memories
You did miss a lot and are still missing a lot. I guess you don't care that the immigrants get social security without paying FICA and We pay FICA and then our ss is taxed. Good old Jimmy Carter sold us out and Al Gore finished us off!

Partial Memories
Boy, I must have missed something during all those years. I could have sworn Carter was a friend to the Shah, and his limited discussion of Human Rights actually had no effect. By the time Carter got to the Whitehouse, the writing was on the wall for the Shah, and nothing short of full-scale war would have stopped Khomeini and his supporters.
Carter also inherited the economy that gave us the high inflation, though I agree that the interest rates were part of his plan to curb it. And they worked, however much havoc they wreaked along the way.
The CRA always demanded proper business practices, as did Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the mortgages they sold. Not, however, in the new securities they developed and bought, but most of the bad mortgages at the base of this financial crisis were sold by private banks, not Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The deal in North Korea fell apart due to negligence of the Clinton administration, and incompetence and ideology on the part of the Bush administration. We didn't follow through on our promises, so why should we expect North Korea to honor their part of the deal?
Carter was a decent man, and a good president, though he failed in some aspects of dealing with Iran. But it was Reagan that paid them while they began to sponsor terrorists, that built Iraq, that trained and supplied Osama bin Laden and the Taliban, and that, despite getting elected because of the rise of radical Islamism, failed to recognize its danger.

You are so right he embarrasses the country but I don't know if he even understands enough to have it embarrass himself. Thanks for the read.

...And, not content with his disastrous presidency, Carter
continues to embarrass himself and his country...

Midwifed, no. It was the lovely Reaganites who began the whole thing in the
70s, when the babe was first delivered to the American buying and selling public.
Carter couldn't get anything done because a really good man can't make it in America, ya gotta have mucho bad ass bad somewhere under your hard hide to really get things done the American Way.
Congress and everyone in Washington saboutaged his efforts and he was too good to be listened to. Unapologetic and naughty with a smile Reagan won America's government's hearts and minds....He was our kinda guy.
