TAPS---it's like being dropped into a foreign country and being told to participate, isn't it?  Suddenly the world is changing at the speed of light.

It is beyond me, FYS.  I don't think I even know what I think about all of it.  So, I read other bloggers like you who write about it.

Re: AIG just received another 37.8 million in 'loans' from taxpayers
Exactly, my dearest---and Americans have been sleeping through it all for far too long.

AIG just received another 37.8 million in 'loans' from taxpayers
We have and have had for a long time a system of trickle down Fascism - This ship of Bribery and taxpayer slavery has been trawling over US for decades...through the engine of Lobbying which is a polite term for greasing the palms of Presidents, Congress people, Senators - politico/opportunists elected by the people who then renege on public service and instead serve the greed of their corporate paymeisters (CEO's and their fellow executive thieves) and themselves. There are other signs too but this is the most glaring, imo.
Lobbyists fill key management and fundraising roles in almost all campaigns; just google lobbyists and campaigns for further edification. (here is an interesting article from a legal perspective - http://richmond.injuryboard.com/miscellaneous/predatory-lobbying-and-legislating-caused-the-economic-crisis.aspx?googleid=248580) Doesn't matter which party or candidate wins; though the Bush admin. and their allies have ramped the process to levels once un-imaginable to the unaware. Behind the scenery, those with the most grease are the real winners and good timers and as always, the working classes lose; sometimes everything they thought they owned, as is now happening - jobs, homes, retirement accounts, liberty; few to soon none lifeboats for the lower decks; many more for the elite, who sip champagne and listen to the band play on as we all sink.

This is how it's unfolding to me:
AIG execs were sucking money out of AIG, investing it offshore (Starr International), and making millions for themselves, and really, how disgusting that they were doing this while their company fell into a steady nosedive since May 2007.

i am on the fence about the bailout - but i view the beach party as lending your neighbor money for their mortgage and then seeing them throw a party in their back yard. it just doesn't seem proper to people like myself who are struggling financially - even if it was planned.
