Go to Religion in the Modern World

- Go to Faith healing - how real is it?
Transcendental_Child - the entire premise doesn't make a lot of sense when
it is examined more closely.
Those that are willing to praise God for healing someone let him off the hook for causing the illness in the first place. The same can be said of close encounters with death or other similar circumstances. If for example; God stopped the car from going over the cliff, why was it headed for the cliff in the first place? In reality, they are simply petitioning their God to fix his cruel mistakes and interferences but for some reason they do not see it that way.

Gomes...
I have missed you... and your rational mind. I could go into a litany of how strong the human mind is... nothing supernatural about that at all... in fact people who hold a strong belief in god and are waiting for him to decide to heal them - over and above all the other things he has on his celestial plate... are more likely to die. Resilience of mind and body is the only thing that can overcome an illness - outside of medicine. And the two need to work conjunctively in order for any healing - of the natural sort - to take place. Religious folk hold back on allowing themselves to heal naturally oftentimes because they are unsure if it is god's will; it is text book psychology. The same idiots will be in church houses praising god for healing their loved one - after he or she has been in chemo for two years and lost goodness only knows how many body parts. There are reasons that most people of science simply do not believe in the supernatural.... I would not have a doctor who is religious. That would be part of my interviewing process.
