Re: Re: NewYorker, you are putting a lot of words in my mouth

New Yorker, you hit the nail on the head. All of these absoluetly stupid reasons is why people are voting for Obama. I must say that what you are seeing is exactly how a dictator could be elected in this nation. This is called defeating the United States from within. And all because of stupid people in this nation. I guess if he is elected and everything goes to hell they will then blame the Republicans even after having a democrat controlled house and senate and with Obama leading them. Do not ever think things can't get worse, just wait and see.

GREAT POST!

I'd love to know when Obama ever dealt with the big picture, but just like any Kool-Aid drinker you just copy and paste taking points from DU...whatever...have a nice day....

NewYorker, you are putting a lot of words in my mouth
I never defended the idea of blacks voting for Obama just because he was black. There is no double standard there.  I just admitted that it was happening, I did not say it was a good thing.  I don't think it is a good reason to vote for him. I would rather they vote for many other great reasons to vote for him and see that there are so many reasons we need to make sure McCain does not win this election if we want there to be a future for this country.  Of course I also am very much think it wrong to vote for a person just because of their party, which seems to be very popular.  I am voting for Obama because it is as clear as it gets that he and his ideas are what this country needs and we cannot afford four more years of Bush like policies, which is clearly what we will get with McCain.

It seems that Palin is the one running for office, since McCain would not be able to win this without her now. McCain is too often forgotten about in this campaign, mostly because he is not as sellable as Palin.  Seriously, McCain is about as unlikable as it gets.  So Palin is now coming off as more of the real candidate for the GOP than McCain.  She has never real dealt with the big picture and that has been made clear in her interviews. Her experience as mayor and governor has obviously not given her the needed experiences.  She has ZERO experience in foreign relations. Just because you can see Russia from your state or that you are neighbors with Canada does not mean you have clue one about foreign relations

I don't agree with you about the treatment of Hillary.  She was playing the game and was treated like any other candidate.  What happened to her is the same as what Happened to McCain back in 2000 when he tried for his party's nomination.  The big thing is he wasn't woman, and there does seem to be movement right now that is really anti-woman, and honestly I see you backing that.  Palin herself is setting the woman's movement back decades.  If Hillary were to have been treated any differently than the male candidates, then that would have been discrimination.  To me that seems to be what you are asking for here.  I respect Hillary because she played the game and unlike Plain, who I have no respect for, she did it the right way.  The way they are treating Palin and claiming you can't say anything bad about her is as sexist as it gets.  I am not at all judging Palin based on her sex, just as I am not at all judging Obama based on him being black.

As for Obama's experience, read the article here.  While he may have just recently gotten over to Europe, he has traveled around before that and he has meet with foreign leaders before that. And here is one that looks into just what Obama has been involved with in regards to sponsoring, introducing and authoring during his time in the Senate.

The 'racist party' label is a way outdated idea.  Both parties have changed greatly since the Civil War after all. That is really a weak point and is not accurate to modern times at all. All the racists I have ever known have been strong conservatives.

It almost sounds like you are one of those former Hillary supporters who got very bitter and then headed down the wrong path.  Just because your favorite candidate didn't make it to the final round is no reason to sellout the country to McCain.  That is a much worse reason to vote for someone than based on the color of their skin.

Re: NewYorker, what an interesting and revealing reply

So I guess it's OK for you that AAs vote for Obama just because he's black but not ok for women (which is not my case; I chose McCain regardless months ago) to vote for Palin because she's a woman? Why the double standard?

And why are you so worried about Sarah Palin, anyway? She's not the one running for President. But as far as she goes - because again, my mind was made up for McCain in June - Sarah Palin was a mayor first, and a Govenor subsequently, which is far more than can be said for a community organizer.

When it comes to "my side" let me inform you that I was a hell-bent Dem for 23 years. I was driven to the "other side" by the vulgarity with which Hillary Clinton was treated first by her own party and then by the vicious accusations of racism thrown by the Obama camp and the DNC if you don't vote for him. Got it? More inportantly, the Democratic Party, WHICH HAS HISTORICALLY BEEN THE RACIST PARTY, has a lot of gall calling others racist. I finally opened my eyes after 23 years.  I will not be bullied into voting for someone who has dubious associations with VERY shady characters (Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, and Antonin Rezko to name a few), voted for partial birth abortion and wants to open Social Security to illegal immigrants, among other things. The way he is also using children in his campaign is postively revolting as well - just like the guy with the little moustache in Germany circa 1939! You cannot put forth a tangible criticism against Obama otherwise low and behold you are a racist. Excuse my French, but I'm sick of this shit.

Ehm...where is his "diplomatic experience" you speak about? He met for the first time ever with some leaders of the western Europe during his rock-star tour of Europe last June. And can you please explain why that during his stint as Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee of Foreign Affairs, not only did he never call a committee hearing, he ha never set foot in Europe before the above-mentioned, Kennedy-wannabe tour? Having spent a few years in Indonesia as a child does not constitute as experience.

Which legislations has he passed that he actually worked on? The 3 or 4 he only attached his name to when they had already been drawn up and finalized by other Senators who actually did the work? Tell me, I'm curious! And what do make of the fact that he voted FOR the Bush-Cheney Energy Bill? Google "Obama" and "Exelon" and learn a little something. So please...I'd love to have an argument about why I'm not voting for Obama, but come back when you have substantiated arguments for Obama, not some pastiched groundless talking points that do not offer anything solid.

NewYorker, what an interesting and revealing reply
I never challenged the fact that there is a large number of African Americans who will vote for Obama just because he is black.  I know that is true.  Just as I know it is true that there are a lot of people out there who are only voting for the McCain/Palin ticket right now because Palin is female.  Who cares if she rally is clueless about the big picture of politics and is nothing more than a show piece to try and get those votes. Luckily for us she it is clear she is just a show piece who is not at all right for the job, so the real feminists are not falling for it.  Unlike Hillary, Palin clearly is not as strong of a politicians as your side would want us to believe.

As for Obama's Experience...  Well unlike Palin, he has been involved with foreign affairs and has met with many leaders from around the world in a diplomatic position for the US.  His time in congress, short though it may be, has allowed him to be active in the federal system and active in seeing what the needs of the country are. He has been involved with introducing various legislation into congress that have benefited the country, one that I very much favored was the one that gave tax breaks to companies who stayed here in the USA, so instead of just giving a blind tax break to all companies it said the companies that were going to help build up out economy got rewarded for it.  That is the kind of thinking that we need, not the big tax cut rewards for all companies, even those who are helping to destroy the economy.

Re: Wow was this a sad, pathetic batch of some of the dumbest propaganda ever.
90% of AAs  are voting for Obama just because he is African American and made their choices long ago. That paints a very accurate picture. It has nothing to do with Sarah Palin. Their minds were made up long before she or any other potential vice presidential candidate ever enetered the picture.

You inform me...WHAT is Barack Obama's experience then????

Wow was this a sad, pathetic batch of some of the dumbest propaganda ever.
I mean you start off by talking about making an informed decisions yet it is clear that whoever made this video is about as uninformed as it gets.

Most of what is being said about Obama applies much more accurately to Palin.  I mean she is completely inexperience and many people are only voting for her because she is a woman.

And most people I know who vote Republican, only vote such because they don't know any better.
