I was gonna go into a lengthy spiel about the need for magnesium, potassium and liquids in sufficient quantities - but then I saw your reply to vogue and see you understand. Good! Now conduct yourself accordingly...

I can definitely feel your pain. Leg cramps can really jolt you awake and cause nightmares for me once the pain manages to subside (and some petting from the missus to calm me down). After that, it'll take me another hour before I fall asleep.

Re: Thanks, Vogue--
here's a most useful site with a lot of information about cramps and remedies:

As it happens, I have not been keeping well-hydrated, nor am I eating those calcium and potassium-rich foods also recommended, and I know magnesium and those operate in a balance together. So... I will water-up and munch on broccoli and tomatoes... and take my vitamins that I've neglected.

You better be careful and no, I don't think you can stretch your heart.

On a more serious note, don't forget to take magnesium supplements, it helps to prevent leg cramp. I suffer from them too.
