Krisles, I grew up in the time before credit cards. I didn't even have one until I was 50. I wonder how I managed.

You mean we have to be responsible for ourselves???
My son and I were having this conversation the other day, he is a wheeler dealer and makes his wife and his mother nervous. He claims he is careful and thinks things out, but his debt load scares us. Since he is primarily self-employed now, further financing is out of the question unless it is good old mom and dad. He knows his limits, he just like to push them, it's his personality and he owns up to it.
Today I still got a 0% interest credit card application in the mail, are those people next in line for a bail out? You and I remember the days of saving for things you wanted to buy. My parents saved to buy cars with cash, so it is possible.
We are lucky, our house and motorhome are paid for but it wasn't easy and we did without a lot of luxuries for many years. I still feel like i'm cheating when I dine out.

I am with you, taking responsibility for our actions is so critical. Unless that is done we never learn from the mistakes. sam

Great post, Krisles. I couldn't have said it better myself.
It's been years since I bought anything I couldn't pay for in 90 days. Bills get paid within a day or two. I don't loan money. I know a latte is a luxury to be savored on rare occasions. And thanks for all your kind words! :)Pat

One of the many things I love about you is this uncanny ability you have of giving voice to my thinking - if I had climbed on that box, I would have wanted to say the same thing, though I could not have done it so well...
