- Go to Why I Can't Volunteer At The Animal Shelter
Awww, how sad :( It's truly heartbreaking to witness an innocent animal in pain. Probably the owner was heartbroken too, though.
Some people drive like maniacs on my street, but it would be next to impossible to keep track of three kids and three cats all the time. There's constantly someone in/out, in/out, the door is always revolving.
Best we can do is teach our kids street safety, and to watch out for creatures smaller and more vulnerable. They're good about keeping the cats - and especially themselves - out of harm's way.

I witnessed something so devestating at the "Humane Society"
that I will be scarred for life...I won't go into it as to save others from potential scarring, but that place is FAR from humane...
I'm sorry that you had to witness that sweet BeL. I hope you are feeling okay now...

Naut and Rumored
you both make the point that too many miss. Having a pet requires responsibility. Cats are little maintenance and we humans seem to forget they aren't always as tough as they would like us to think they are...the car always wins!

I too would have a hard time at that shelter! And we live on a very quiet street, but we do have coyotes, so Bubbles is a house cat, who
sometimes, as a special treat, gets some supervised play time in the backyard...

Bel, our two cats are straight house cats...never go out unless one sneaks
out the door, and then he is usually petrified by what he sees and runs back into the house...
Poeple drive up and down our street like maniacs...I'm surprised a child hasn't been hit, let alone an animal......
