Maybe she needs to be reminded how much it means
to people who love someone to be allowed to help, to be trusted and relied on. Receiving is a gift that is, for some of us, very hard to give.

I can relate
My aunt called me today because my email address had changed. When I told her Mom was winding down, she said she had just talked with her and couldn't believe how winded and weak she sounded. She is very independent but is getting weaker.
