You gave me my first laugh of the day, Strat!
With you it's guitars, with me, cameras...

Well, Guy,
you don't necessarily have to marry a baby sitter. She culd just be a cheer leader, or something like that...

Midlife crisis'

Strat,

I have been planning to have my midlife crisis for a long time, too. I had better hurry because after October 9th, I will have to live to be 126 years old, assuming that the midlife part is true. I know, I know, I said that I intend to never die, but after thinking about all the crap going on nowadays and getting worse each day, I may have to rethink that. Do I really HAVE to marry a babysitter? I will consider this as I sit back, puffing on a Tihuana Tranquilizer and listening to Steely Dan's "Hey Nineteen!"

     Guy

Strat
You are an awesome writer and I remember that change of life time when I did marry the babysitter, well you know. Anyways, it does still seem like such a lot of palaver for nothing, now that all 5 kids are gone somewhere. Kabu and I read you together tonight and it's great to have two bodies cracking up at yopur writing and falling on the floor.Wiley and Kabu

Glad you enjoyed it, Taps --
and it sounds like your memory of your dad bears posting about as well!

I loved the post, strat.  It made me think of my Dad who had to sell his guitar to get gas for his Model-T to get him and my pregnant Mom from Detroit to Oklahoma after the Ford Motor Company folded during The Great Depression.

Glad you got a charge out of it, Sam!
Guitar is something that's impossible to give up. You can wean yourself, but you never give it up all the way.

I love your stories! My son plays guitar and it would be weird if one wasn't out somewhere! He has a list similar to yours. Guitar junkies I say, and I love to hear 'em play! sam

Myhrrage! How cool!
I didn't realize that was you! Yeah, I'm around -- My wife and I have been in the process of moving, and I have a new job, so I haven't been around that much. But as life gets a little more normal, I'll be on more.

Good to know you're here! I'll come b and visit, fersure!

Get someone to lower the action for you, Food4Thought.
It sounds like no one has ever done that, and it's not that hard to do. As for singing, well, I'm living prof anybody can do anything.

Drums can be fun, Shelly!
Just remember, though, the one time I strayed from my mistress, the guitar, I nearly decapitated myself with a cymbal -- I'll have to relate that story sometime. Granted, I was only about 4 years old, but still....

Strat,

Does this mean you're back on Blogit now really for real?  Cuz that would be, like, super cool if true.

Funny about the "encouragement" from your dad.  My parents were lucky that my passions tended to be quiet ones - namely: ballet and painting.  I suppose I could plug my paintbrush into the subwoofer - you know, for an "artistic statement" - but probably my husband would be none too thrilled.  The colors would be a bit loud.

So, you're going to stick around now, I hope...

Anyway, it's great to see you!  Sorry about the bad pun.

Strat...
I have always wanted to play the guitar, blame Chet Atkins and The Ventures (They have a great track on You tube playing "Walk, Don't Run '64" live in Japan).  Alas, my 48 year old Harmony accoustic takes the finger strength of a vice grip on the frets and I have short stubby fingers.  Of course if you play, you've got to sing (unless you're the Ventures) and my singing is banned in several Galaxies, Pete Seeger I'm not.  I'm sort of a cross between Niel Young when he's off and Roseanne who is never on.

Hi, Lady Chardonnay!
Yeah, I agree. It's just that the mortgage keeps getting bigger because I have to add on space to the house to keep all those guitars...
