Ciel, do it fast before my banks go belly up and leave me broke and I have to move to a tent city leaving my coffee table behind.

Naut,

They are igneous: granites, from what I saw, and what I read says that the area is a major source of nephrite jade.  If I had known that when I was there, I would have hung around longer, and done a little poking around!

Mel,
that photo you emailed me of your son on the rocks is fantastic!  I so hope you can get it posted here!

Re: I could get lost in your pictures
I have gotten a 'mite perturbed' taking pictures, actually...but always find my way home.

Very beautiful and interesting. The rounded rocks look like ones I have seen by the sea, rounded by thousands of years of having been pounded by the waves, at Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia, for example...Here though, they're probably lava formations...

You make me hungry for the West.  I would love a large coffee-table book with all your pictures taken in the western states.

My day is not complete without a shot of Ceil's photos (pun intended).  We were in Wyoming last year but didn't make it to those rocks.  I have photos of other rocks in Oregon, scaled by my sons, which I will ATTEMPT to upload on blogit soon!  Mal
