Re: Re: Re: your post
Probably true.  I mean, I would have fewer reservations about Colin Powell than I do about Barrack Obama.  His trouble would be his connection with Bush, which would automatically cost him all the Bush haters, but as they're mostly Democrats, it wouldn't much affect the election outcome.

So, let's trade Powell for McCain, and say, Bill Richardson for Obama.  We still get to make history, and I could be happy with either one.

Re: Re: your post

Okay now this makes more sense to me.

Why race may matter with Obama is because of his background: Black theology church and his affiliates with radicals both white and black. In the end he is perceived as a black racist.

On the other hand if Colin Powell were to run, most conservatives would probably go for it. Because of his background, his race becomes irrelevant.

Re: your post
I didn't say that all whites are racist.  I said that a substantial group of whites will make their decision in this election based on race, and not on rational analysis of issues.  And I think that is unfortunate.

I admit that some blacks are also racist, but most blacks would be voting for Obama if he were white because he is a Democrat, and is on their side on most issues.  Most whites who support Obama do so because they agree with him politically.

According to some of those polls, the vast majority of Republican will not vote for a Democrat simply for being a Democrat, regardless of positions on issues.  That also is not a good reason for choosing a leader.  Some Republicans are able leaders.  Some are not.  Also true of Democrats.  But I would feel better about the country if everyone would make rational rather than bigoted choices.

As for my lack of reason, I think you misread my statistics.  I said the race is close because of racism.  It turns on perhaps 3 to 6% of voters.  In the swing states, you shift 3% from McCain to Obama and the race is over.  But it seems that 3% is strongly influenced by race.

I do not say not voting for Obama is racist.  I said racism is the deciding factor for some people who will not vote for Obama.  According to today's newspaper, Michigan may flip to McCain due to racism; enough angry whites will not vote for Obama simply because he is black, despite the fact that they recognize that his positions are closer to theirs than McCain's.  That doesn't surprise me; I predicted it in March, and tried to convince Democrats it was a problem to be addressed.

You say every group is for itself.  I agree.  But those who make their decisions based on race are often voting against their own interests in general due to the overwhelming influence of racial hatred.  That's sad.  And dumb.

your post

When are you going to figure out that every group be they black, white, male, female, gay straight, muslim, Christian is for themselves? If a Muslim is running for President who do you think most Muslims will vote for? Christian and so forth? Didn't you say women were mostly voting for Hillary? Why are whites racist for not voting for Obama?

You said yourself that blacks make up less than half of the population...so then how is it that Obama is basically in a tie with McCain? The answer is that all the blacks are voting for Obama as they naturally would while white liberals who are so obsessed with not being racist are also voting for him. So obviously this means blacks are more racist than whites in this election.

It doesn't matter that Obama is half white as his personality is that of the black revolutionary like Huey Newton/Bobby Seal and so forth. Obama comes from a white/American hating all black church but what of McCain? He doesn't seem to be attending aryan nations now does he. And if he were he would be out of business. Blacks are allowed to be racist while people like yourself police whites for their alleged racism.

America is obviously a lot less racist than you say or Obambi wouldn't be doing so well. Your post lacks the same "reason" that you accuse racists of lacking.

mousehop, I appreciate your literary reference.
Yet, Cassandra was the voice of doom, not of reason. Just because she was right in Greek myth, doesn't mean that your prediction will play out in 2008. At least I hope! Great blog!
