Go to Religion in the Modern World

- Go to God hates Fred Phelps and his band of inbreds
Straightforward - I often wonder who people like this think they represent?
An individual with an interpretation that is only agreed upon by a handful of others, should at least ask themselves what the chances are that they have a truth that no one else can see.

I thought this simply hit the point about appropriation and
misrepresentation very well.

If we are going to find a country for Mr. Freddy, Greenland comes to mind or maybe Iran, where he would last about 5 minutes. Connecting the dots between his freedom of speech priviledges and the sacrifices made by those who protect those rights, seems beyond his comprehension. Following the lack of reasoning he uses to come to why he protests, indicates that there simply is no reason involved in his unique biblical interpretations. He gives human beings a bad name, never mind whatever religion he claims to be a member of.

Ugh.
People like that give normal, sane, run-of-the-mill Believers a bad name. We're not all haters. Some of us figure sin is sin is sin, and my pride or deceitfulness is no worse than your murder or theft. And while we may all disagree on what is, or isn't, a sin, we don't go around stoning people anymore. Public humiliation and cruelty don't make you any friends, much less any converts.
Guy obviously doesn't speak Latin, because, quite frankly, his sign is nonsensical. But if that guy was waving his "semper fi" sign anywhere near my family, he'd find himself in deep trouble. We have two Marines among us. And neither of them are "f--s."
What I don't understand is, if the guy doesn't appreciate what soldiers have done and are doing to defend his right to spout his puerile imprecations, why doesn't he pick a better country? And if he can't find one, well, I guess we could find one for him. Grrrrrrr.

sam444 - it would even be a bit different if what the guy was saying made
any sense - any sense at all.
But his interpretations can only be described as insanely nonsensical.

It is so unfortunate when people seek to judge and then impose themselves on others. I will never understand it either! sam
