All I can say is, all the world hears, is Americans' saying they live in the greatest country on earth which I may agree with or not, because I'm Canadian.-;)
I certainly will say to you my friend, America didn't get to be that way by thinking the next president and Vice President won't be able to get the job done. Whoever it is, will get the job done because the world needs them to.
I just wish the terrible verbal diarrhea and slanderous remarks would cease between the two factions of Democrats and Republicans, because THAT is hurting the U.S.A. worse than anything.
Yes it's happening in Canada too between Conservatives and Liberals et al, and I just wish political decency would raise them to a higher level.

In the first place, thanks for stopping by, reading me and leaving valuable comments. On the subject: sadly I'm not American and have little chance to even becoming a resident, but I'm the biggest fan of this great nation and hugely convinced it will bounce back.

Just run the country ragged and keep putting lipstick on it via the media.
Sorry, just HAD to).
As it is we gloss over the degree of our natinal problems because we are so damned tired of them we want distraction, same as during the 1929 crash (theaters did just fine). The TV will provide distraction.

Re: The president has much more to do in the political arena than
In America Politics and economics are the same thing, essentially. A president can overtly do something or covertly do something, by doing nothing....The people that the president chooses politically, make economic decisions, it is all the same. What the president signs or vetoes may be political, but is ultimately, again, economic.

Re: Mr. T has a point.
Pat_B, truly, the economists are all saying that there is deep trouble ahead and that if the next president doesn't pass up politics as usual and begin to fix things, that we could live in a hole for decades.

The president has much more to do in the political arena than
economics because he survives by politics.

Mr. T has a point.
But I hope in this case we have better luck. :)
