I loved Douglas Adams, and I enjoyed even more reading it aloud to my wife.  'The Hobbit' was another good one for reading aloud and capturing me completely, again and again.

By the way, I'm a frequent visitor to your blog, and I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts.  I could never compete with you, though... I mean, you're a God-damned genius...

Re: Dear God-damned genius
Good question.  One book, huh?  I might want to claim it was "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy", but I'm not sure that would hold up.  I like the light tone, the satire of science, society, and religion.

But honestly, the most influential book in my life was the Bible, though as a reaction against it as I learned more about it.  But I still prefer Douglas Adams.

Dear God-damned genius
Those lists can be interesting, and always controversial.  It certainly would be hard for me to come up with my top favorite/best one hundred of anything

On that same line, after hearing much ado about it, I tried to read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Talk about a skipper, but I could see myself re-trying it somewhere on down the road sometime

Tell me, if you had to say, what would be the one book that influenced your way of thinking?
