It's always a good idea to go to the supermarket and shop for something interesting rather than get irritated, lol. And I wish hubby all the best in his new endeavours!
As far as this 'ru' business is concerned, the word is actually French and is spelled roux, with the 'x' being silent.
And keep writing...
