my kids come in my room constantly, despite the fact I've asked them to knock first. When me and my brother were kids our parents were constantly kicking us out of their room, bemoaning their lack of privacy and our lack of manners- now I see what they were talking about! I don't mind my kids coming into my room but when I'm tired or just need some alone time to write sometimes it gets a little trying (a friend advised I start locking my door, which can't bring myself to do- they are my babies, after all!)

It's good (and healthy) to create our own private space. Although I would never deny my daughter if she needed me for something, she new that at certain times of the day it was
private time and unless she was engulfed in flames she was not to disturb me.

When my daughter was little the door on the bedroom stayed open
as she got older, things changed. She needs her privacy and I need mine. A closed door in my home doesn't mean you can't come in, it means knock before entering. I give her the same respect, I don't just barge into her room.

the only time my bedroom door is closed is when a 'husband' was in (with me

)....but just like you i cant keep away from my kids...and between my and my children I dont leave a closed door for anything for them 24/7. I'll turn the night into day if there's anything they need from me or tell me dear.
