Sunnybeach7 - I have heard that argument before as well
It is another one of those catch phrases that does not hold up to any reasonable scrutiny. This God of theirs cannot be "the way" or "the guiding light" or whatever other words you want to use for guidance if what is right or wrong is a big secret. The fact will always remain that if their God was real and as they define him; his words and his guidance would be used by all of mankind from the moment he decided to give them these things to us.
To give these things to some people and not to others totally redefines this being they describe as petty, shallow, favoring predominantly white societies and completely callous to the remainder of mankind. The funny part is when someone armed with this drivel condescends or insults those of us who aren't buying it.

About the all loving, all merciful...etc..
What I have heard "too often" is people who imply that God thinks in ways that we don't. That God has his own set of rules and understanding of what is right and wrong (that are basically nothing like the rights and wrongs that we as mere mortals perceive)...and that is how God can be all loving, etc... because only HE knows what is TRULY right and wrong...blah, blah, blah..
