Re: WriterofLioght, I owe it to myself to comment on your unfair, well, lies
Thanks, kingmi, but those are facts. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbZJYWjkAPo for him saying he wouldn't want his daughters "punished with a baby." And here is the link to discussion of his being more concerned with doctors than babies surviving abortion: http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/WriterofLight/565202. Scroll down the article to entry No. 2.
I think the gears that are grinding are between his ears. I don't think he ever learned the fundamental truth that one must engage one's brain before throwing the speaking apparatus into gear.

Golly, WoL, it would seem these Blogit Demos and Libs are
feeling rather anxious! For various reasons they seem not to care about McCain's choice of VP. I frankly think she is a fantastic choice, and am very pleased with his intelligent decision but it would seem not everyone concurs. Oh well. Their loss.
Great post!

Re: YOure joking me right???
No "the beat" -- YOU'RE the one joking! You're right. It should be no big deal that McCain has chosen a female VP. That should have been done long ago. But you've completely glossed over all of her qualifications and only chosen to see a beauty queen winner. This woman has gone up against the establishment, against the crooks, against members of her own party who were corrupt. She fought them and won. She is more than a beauty queen winner. She is a woman with class, brains and strong moral values.
His was not a desperate move, but rather a very, very smart move. Whereas Obama gives little care to life, she values life. Where he's a tax and spend . . . spend. . . spend some more type liberal, she is into lower taxes. I could go on, but I doubt you really care.
And regarding McCain's comment about $5 million being the cutoff for middle class, if you'd listened to the whole quote, you'd know he was joking and he even said his comment would probably be twisted.
She was a fantastic choice in more ways than one. By spewing your rhetoric you've only shown your idiocy.

many pro-lifers refer to babies as punishments
Obama termed
babies a punishment? I had never heard this allegation before, so I ran an Internet search, and found a short video clip.
What Obama said: "I've got two daughters--9 years old and 6 years old. I'm going to teach them, first of all, about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16."
Let me provide a little context for this. I have numerous times heard anti-abortion people refer to babies as punishment. As in: You had sex before marriage, and now you don't want a baby? Tough. You should have thought about that beforehand. Deal with the consequences. Many pro-life people are also anti-sex, and they explicitly describe pregnancy as a punishment for wayward girls.
I understand Obama's remark as a response to that kind of mentality, as in: You think my daughters, if they make a mistake, should be punished with a baby? I don't want them punished with a baby.

History Lessons
Um, George II did not appoint the first woman as Secretary of State. Bill Clinton did. Her name is Madeleine Albright, and she was more effective than Condi Rice.
And the point of stating the obvious, that Governor Palin has little foreign policy experience, is to make sure everyone notices that even Obama can claim more experience than she has, which means McCain's attacks are, well, pointless. You also do your arguments no favors by pointing out that Bill Clinton had little foreign policy experience prior to becoming president, because he did very well in foreign policy as president. He certainly maintianed better relations with our allies than his successor, and he didn't sell our moral standing for a pretence of increased security.
Palin should be judged on her merits. McCain's judgment should also. So, just what was he thinking? That Hillary supporters would move en masse to any woman? Can he be that out of touch?

YOure joking me right???
Seriously? LOL or did you just make a funny?!
Can you not see the ploy behind his choice? It has nothing to do with women making a come up in society. It has nothing to do with McJackass seeing greatness and enormous capability in her. It has nothing to do with her ability for change in the country. She is a former beauty queen...SO WHAT. She can fish...SO WHAT. She can shoot a high powered rifle...SO WHAT. She is apart of the NRA...SO WHAT. She has a child with a mental disability...SO DO OTHER PEOPLE. She has a son going to Iraq...SO WHAT! Yes that makes her more relatable to the public, but it does not mean she is educated. Nor does that mean she is smart. She is from ALASKA! No one knows who she is no one has heard of her. The public did not even know who she was until he picked her. He is hoping for his followers and many other individuals that have not decided on who they are going to vote for to see this as oh so wonderful. To see the choice as wow he chose a woman, He is amazing, he chose a woman! Oh my goodness wow, who cares about Hillary, we can choose an old white man that is rich and has been in government for 26 years that has done nothing for us and thinks the middles class averages under 5 million a year! He wants you to see that him choosing this former beauty queen as a great choice. But it is just a marketing tool. A wonderful marketing tool to get you to buy into his product which is More of the same worthless government. Why can you not see that this is a move out of desperation. You should be asking yourself why can you not see it is a marketing tool and why you are actually going to allow yourself to believe this is a choice he made thinking about you and the citizens of this country and not for his campaign and struggle to get into the white house.

WriterofLioght, I owe it to myself to comment on your unfair, well, lies
About Obama, and so I will. He never termed babies punishment, and he never voted for a bill to prevent doctors from reviving babies who survive late-term abortions. Although, it makes sense to keep doctors from reviving an aborted fetus. You would have to be crazy to support late term abortions, but it shows what an abomination abortion is, as a tangled web and crime against humanity. It would have to have been inferred from an 'in-for-a-penny-in-for-a-pound' mentality that abortion engenders among proponents.
That said, it remains the case that many women rely on the freedom of reproductive rights as a health issue, and politicians have to represent them regardless of their personal beliefs.
But, as a writer of light, not a writer of lite, I would expect you to use less extremist shaded examples. It ranks you with those who denigrate the entire race of African-Americans by calling him "Nobama", stating that he is Muslim beyond validation that he is not, born in Kenya, or that he is a "Manchurian Candidate" with a chip.
I hold you in high regard and cringe when I hear the gears grinding like that. All due respect.
