Adding to that...
just incase an overly analytical person takes offence at the "biped monkeys" in my previous comment, I'm sure those who originated these myth didn't use todays' species, genus and other classification systems and biped monkeys and ogres makes more sense as human ancestors than tree-swinging monkeys!

Re: Where have all the commentators gone???
Perhaps a little hesitant to take a stance on this possibility?

We all know that evolution theory is very plausible and that it explains a lot of the history of creatures as discovered in the fossil record etc.  What many "evolution of human beings" supporters shy away from is the fact that we haven't found enough proof of our gradually changing ancestors to make this a scientific fact yet.  So we make a leap of faith and declare that it must have been and since we all know how slim the chance of any creature ending up as a fossil is we may well never find such immediate, but slightly different ancestors anyway.  Another equally "by leap of faith" proposal is what you propose here.  The possibility of modern humans as having been introduced from "outside" the earths evolutionary progress or the possibility of a "racial" mix between an earthbound hominoid ancestor and an "outside" progenitor has been proposed by many other people as well.  An old Tibetan myth states that the Tibetan people are the descendants of monkeys and rock-ogress, of something such, i.e. a mix between two bipeds.  Either way, we are here and although it is interesting to speculate about our origins, we have to deal with our own monstrosities in todays' world.  Stimulating thoughts, Gerald.

Where have all the commentators gone???

I am receiving a number of page reads to this post, but so far NO replies!

Even if you think that I must have gone "stark-raving-mad," I would still appreciate your comments! So, I encourage you to speak up and state your opinion.  I will not bite you!
