"And an honest seeker after truth must be willing to accept truth that disagrees with his preferred assumptions."  ----Of course.

You seem to be missing finer points which may be my fault. I am not attempting push the notion that questions should never be asked or that reason should be totally suspended. Certainly there are plenty of skeptical people (due to intelligence) who read the bible yet with an attitude of open minded seeking. What I am attempting to say is God can only be contacted, ultimately, with the human spirit which is the deepest layer of the human being. If you do not believe in the existence of the spirit you will inevitably assign to reason the unwieldy burden of ushering you into truth concerning God.

Obviously there are virtually infinite variations of human personality, life experiences, levels of powers of reasoning, and familial and cultural upbringing contained in the billions and billions of people on the earth now and throughout history, and therefore each and every one has and have had their own unique spiritual journey and wrestlings, and I cannot account for all of them in my post. I apologize if my posts come across as overly generalizing but honestly Im just to lazy to elucidate and exhaust these finer points.

Objection, please
I'm sorry, but I can't agree with this.  Those who ask questions, and think about how the stories of the Bible fit with the reality of experience are usually honest seekers after truth, in my experience.  Those who do not have already decided what they will believe, and attempt to deny the application of reason.

I know, it's about faith, not reason.  But it's really about both.  And an honest seeker after truth must be willing to accept truth that disagrees with his preferred assumptions.  Those who are not, and are certain of the outcome cannot be called honest seekers of anything except self-affirmation.

Ari, Thanks.
By the way, my wife loves the soap and perfume I ordered for her, that you made.
