And thank you, Sam!  Judging from the independent thinking I am receiving from this and other similar questions, we Christians do not seem to be as "brainwashed" as some others would like to believel!    Hey, maybe it's THEM who are brainwashed! They all seem to be quoting from the same parrot book, don't you think??

Without temptation there is no test of conviction.
With too much temptation there is reason for failure.  I'd say we should neither run from it or welcome it, but just be aware of it and how we react to it.  Temptations that challenge our convictions are excellent teachers that teach us about our instinctive behavior and our grasp of the possible consequences of our actions.
