Re:
I'm glad you got the humor.  I don't drink to solve my problems, and I sometimes worry that just drinking to try all the combinations of drink mixes around could be too much, but I've only been really drunk once in my life.  I didn't care for the experience, though even with the vomiting, it wasn't as bad as my one experience with marijuana.  I guess I'm kind of a control freak.

Re: I think perhaps it's called "unconditional love"???
Except for the implied opinion that 'closet liberal' equals sinner, I loved your comment.  That's the kind of outcome I'm hoping for.  Thanks for sharing your experience.

Drinking won't solve a thing. I got the humor! We can only lead them to water and the rest is up to them. I appreciate your concern! It is just bad for one's health!  sam

I think perhaps it's called "unconditional love"???

There was a time when I was a closet liberal.  I was pro choice and I subscribed to "Mother Jones" and I went to church only because it was expected of me (and because I did not have the guts to be honest w/ my parents).  My mother, bless her, never chided me, never harrassed.  She'd speak her mind and be true to her convictions but didn't shove it down my throat.  What she did do was love me unconditionally.  It was only later, after I'd grown up a bit that we talked about the sins of my youth.  She'd surmised a number of things all along but chose to be quiet and to simply demonstrate love.

Needless to say, we remain quite close.
