He couldn't help his thoughts. As the weeks passed they came around more frequently. What would they think of him if they knew his secret? It had haunted since the newspaper article was posted in the staff lounge. Looking at everyday unnerved him. How much longer could he keep a secret! Lost in thought he moved furtively toward his office.

He was hoping to get the office and then put himself into personal isolation. He just needed more time to get things figured out. It wasn't him that committed the deed. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He knew it wasn't going to make a difference. Mistaken identity! Bah! Who was going to believe him, who?

Rajiv? Is that you? Is that really you?

Too frightened to turn around he make his way to the elevator.

Rajiv, the voice called.

The door opened and Rajiv disappeared.

My attempt! I hope more participate!  sam

Thanks....Why don't you add to what Xana has written? I am really keen to see what turns out when so many heads come together.

Hmmmm...interesting...let's see now

Rajeev pulled down the window and let the cool breeze caress his face. Suddenly remembering, he opened his file and checked for the umpteenth time whether all his papers were in order, oldest at the bottom, most recent on top. He couldn't help but smile at all that he had achieved in life...from academics to his career chart, he had aced it all. Gerald & Hopkins was in his destiny, he knew it.

He continued reviewing through those beloved papers until he came across an unfamiliar one which he had almost flipped over but did a double take. It was extraordinarily out of place...plain except for a few bold words written out in the centre - "SAVE YOUR LIFE, GET AWAY WHILE YOU CAN. G & E WILL LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED TO ANNIHILATE YOU"

Rajeev felt the air leave his lungs. His heart was pounding. He did not recognize, let alone the paper, but also the handwriting at all. What panicked him the most was that he had gone through his file carefully and intricately just last night and the paper was absent. How and who could have got into his bolted appartment somewhere in those 6 hours he was asleep and slipped it in? It was a joke...it had to be; lots of people knew he had wanted this job for a long time, and he wouldn't put it past his rogish buddies to somehow sneak in and try to leave him puzzled and scared on his big day.

All possible explanations were chasing each other around in his brain and pangs of fear were wreaking havoc on his heart. He would not have heard all the noise outside if the driver hadn't braked hard and abruptly. The road ahead was blocked, there was a commotion ahead...
