Norwood, there are parts of this poem that make me remember an old Carter Family song,
"Hold Fast To The Right." My mother used to sing it to us. The chorus went:
...Hold fast to the right, hold fast to the right
Wherever your footsteps may roam
Oh for sake not the the way of salvation my boy
That you've learned from your mother at home
