Yes, Batman, the poster child for mental stability. None the less, he became one of my favorites once the comics took a darker turn and portrayed him in a more "realistic" light.

I missed the first movie with the new Bond at the theatre (my wife doesn't go for the espionage genre), but caust it on DVD. I was impressed. No way I'm missing the next one on the big screen.

Believe it or not, I haven't read any of the novels. It's on my ever-growing list of things to do before I die.

That one is a little after my time. I had to look him up. And I thought being blue meant sad.

I agree I like Connery the best, but the latest Bond is a close second. His adventures takes place early in his career. Daniel Craig's Bond will become Sean Connery when he grows up.

There's no doubt he's not a very nice person. I like him anyway, even though I see him for what he is.

Wow Talion
Great post! Personally, I really dislike Mr. Bond--it's one series that I just couldn't ever get into. And I think it's because of a lot of the things you said here: He's a glorified assassin, a womanizer, and (perhaps) a psycho. Not the sort of person I want to start idolizing.
Now Batman...I want to be just like him when I "grow up"!

Fun read, Talion. For me, there will never be another Sean Connery. Although, now that I think of it, I would love to see you give it a try. What fun it would be to go to the movies and to see you doing all those exciting things.

So what's your opinion of the new Bond? I reckon he's up there with Sean Connery and the upcoming movie looks like it'll be as good as the last.

The first Bond book that I read was From Russia with Love and I was just
11 or so. Not very good of me, but I stole it from my Dad's room. Then I read the Carpetbaggers, another no no.....
It was trouble as I grew up. And forget the Shadowboxer, a truly perverse book that I found at the library.....Much too young....made me want to grow up to be a Bond girl, sigh.

I always liked the James Bond movies -- Sean Connery being the
quintessential James. I kind of identified with Moneypenny -- a friend who wasn't fooled by Bond's ladykiller persona and just liked him -- who kept secrets and pulled strings. There was more to her than meets the eye.
And "Q". Wouldn't you love to have a cup of coffee with him some time? As for those beautiful Barbie dolls, ...hah!

This one hit me out of left field. You make a very, very good point and a little to close to some realizations I have come to over the past year and a half. Well done and very well analyzed.
