Re: A new blog

I'm at my quota of blogs, but this one can serve the purpose perhaps.

I suggest everyone also post a BWC notice in the Blogit Cafe, too.

And each time we read and offer useful comment, we should also post a link there to what we want to share.

As a matter of fact, I do. I have a fiction blog that I would most certainly like critiqued. However, I'm going to delete what I've posted thus far and start over from the beginning. I'll let you know when it's ready to go.

I have an idea about how you could make this better for those participating. Instead of scrolling through all the new posts to find the titles marked BWC, what if you created a new blog exclusively for highlighting them? Those who offer something for critique should not only place the BWC in the tiltle, but also drop you a link in the comment section of this new blog. Once daily, or whenever you have the time, you could post the link listing in your blog, including title and author. That way everyone wishing to critique, or just read some new things, can have it all at their fingertips. I don't envision too many people submitting, so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle for you. Anyway, since this was your idea, you deserve a few extra clicks and pennies.

Talion, welcome to the Club!

I appreciate feedback from everyone.

The problem I have found in other sites where critique is offered is that there is not much distinction made between the subjective "I like" and the objective "This is good."  Both are good news, and in fact, I value the subjective reader comment more, when it comes down to it, than a literary expert's because my market is readers.

On the other hand, the point of critique is to grow as a writer, to develop skills, and for that it is great to have experts around the place.

Still, you have me rethinking, and I think I will edit a bit...

Do you have something in particular you'd like to present to the BWC?

I like it
And, as I've recently learned, we have a lot of really gifted people around here! They're a valuable resource--might as well put them to good use!

Sounds like a good idea and I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm not so sure about the listing credentials part, however. It way make those without them reluctant to participate. A sound critique is a sound critique regardless of who provides it.
