We recently had two days without power in some towns in Horowhenua in NZ and it certainly highlights just how much we have come to depend on electricity. Fortunately, because of the many earthquakes and the always looming possibility of volcanic eruptions in NZ, people are regularly reminded to be disaster ready on TV etc and that helps in such cases too.

Doesn't it just! And to have got to the Olympics at all is pretty hot stuff. Trouble is, one negative so often wipes out abt least ten positives...
