Pat_B - some of us don't have kinder gentler selves
Sometimes, what you see is what you get but I do agree that far too much energy is wasted on pointless arguments. Those of course would be the arguments that other people get involved in, my arguments are of earth shattering importance . . . (yeah, right)

Sometimes saying what we think and
arguing for our own point of view takes us away from our kinder, gentler selves. We yield to the impulse to be hostile and attack someone just because they don't get it. We may even go out of our way to pick a fight with someone. Since time on this earth is limited, it's time to give up the pointless arguments that distract me from accomplishing my goals. Gome, I wish you well.

Kabu - big surprise, I knew I was walking into this when I opened my mouth
But let us not forget who made the original faux pas. You told a person that you know is an atheist that you were adding him to a list of people you pray for daily. People on a daily "prayer list" are typically people in need or are experiencing unfortunate circumstances. So what are you saying to someone that you know doesn't believe in such things when you say you are going to pray for him daily? You are actually saying two things. First you are saying that you have made the determination that they are in need of prayer and whatever help that is supposed to provide for them. Secondly, you have simply ignored the fact that the recipient of your pity, and pity is ultimately what it is, does not believe in your God. An implication viewed by the recipient that suggests what you believe is more valid than what they believe.
Then you attempt to tell us that your motivations are that you care about people? That could well be true but in this instance, two people tried to explain to you what was offensive about saying such a thing and now we are the objects of your derision? We get to endure statements such as this "That caring appears to be a concept impossible for you to grasp." from a person who will not even concede to others their right to define what offends them.

Re: Re: Just popped in because you "set me straight' at Kooka's blog.
actually I am very honest with myself and with those here that I comment with. Sad that you two bloggers seem only to want to be antagonistic with anyone who carries different views to yours, yet can still care about you. That caring appears to be a concept impossible for you to grasp. Oh you will deny that and suggest I read what you write properly and imagine me as some sort of narrow minded hypocritcal far rightetc and etc. It's late time to call it a night.

Re: Just popped in because you "set me straight' at Kooka's blog.
Kabu - I wasn't trying to set anyone straight and as I mentioned; your telling Kooka_lives that you were adding him to a list of people you pray for daily is none of my business. If however you had said the same thing to me, I probably wouldn't have been as nice about it as Kooka was. When you answer our attempts at explaining why it is offensive with "My crime seems to be having mentioned my private caring to the wrong people." all I can say is spare me.
Maybe you should try being just a little bit more honest about your motives and it may possibly allow you to see where you identified Kooka as being someone who needs to be prayed for and then felt you had the right to tell him as much.

Just popped in because you "set me straight' at Kooka's blog.
All the comments you have just expressed here in your latest post don't really have anything to do with Faith. Religion!!!!!!

But Faith, It isn't something definable is it. If I pray for people It's because I feel inside myself that I should. My crime seems to be having mentioned my private caring to the wrong people. I shall be a little less of a clanging symbol in future.

"devil made me do it"
that excuse can cleanse a person of any guilt in life, and that's why it's stupid. you could shoot 10 people and then say you were possessed. like Ted Bundy did. what a prick. anyway, your list of things to fear pretty much hit the nail on the head

there are religious folk, and then there are Fanatics!
